Merry Christmas gig
Thanks to all of you who came to see the band at The Dublin Castle. The gig was areal stormer and mostly featured songs from the new album as well as a rarely performed acoustic version of the Joe Jackson classic 'Different for girls'. Mike Walker travelled all the way from York for the gig and he had a tear in his eye for most of the set (i think it was the price of a London pint). Thanks to Debbie for the Christmas cards!
Spanish tour
Check out what the band have been up to in Spain over the last few days by visiting the diary page.
Gig Tonight!
Farrah play the Metro Club, Oxford Street Tonight (Tuesday Nov 12th). The club is at the Tottenham Court Rd end of Oxford Street (almost opposite the Virgin Megastore). Farrah will be on stage at 10pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
Better late than never
Farrah took to the stage last night for the first electric show in four months! The band stormed through old favourites as well as a smattering of new songs. Michelle rocked big style and Jez experimented with some (eastern influenced) microtonal tunings. A Big happy birthday to Debs (how's the hangover?) and to all you lovely people who missed the last tube home to watch the band. You can catch Farrah again at the Metro Club, Oxford St on November 12th.
Acoustic debut
Last night saw the debut of Farrah's enormously talented (but not enormous) bass player Michelle. The band played an acoustic set at a packed gig in Camden Town. The set included material from their debut album Moustache, as well as tunes from the new album. Highlights of the set were the inclusion of new songs; 'He Gives An Inch' and 'This Is My Life'. A big thank you to all af you who came down, some from as far as Derby! (You know who you are). You can next see the band playing fully electric at the Radius club, London (check gigs page for details)
It's a girl!.......It's a girl
What a week it has been. Firstly, all at Farrah would like to congratulate Arsey Mike and his lovely wife Nicola, on the birth of Poppy. She popped into the world at a bouncing 9 pounds 1 ounce. The whole family are over the moon and doing well. Nothing new for Nicola having to look after a helpless drooling child!
On the very same day as Poppy arrived, so did Farrah's new bassist Michelle, who auditioned over the telephone and was poached from marvellous Sydney based power-popsters Montana. Farrah persuaded her to trade antipodean sunshine for tube strikes and drizzle! Rehearsals have started in earnest for Michelle's debut at the Barfly acoustic club (see gigs page for details)
glad to be busy
Farrah's lull of live activity is coming to an end Hurrah! The boys and ....girl (ooh!) are itching to get back on the road in the U.K and sunny Spain. Tracks for the new album are continuing at a snail's pace but titles are rumoured to include. Wake Up, Daytime T.V, The last word, Tongue Tied, Hopelessly devoted, School Disco, Overloaded, Nigel's Got it Coming, Sarah, The One That Got Away, Give Her an Inch, Everyone Knows It (but you). these are working titles (especially as Jez never finishes the lyrics until the day he sings them). The band are hoping to have some MP3's of the new tracks on the site very soon Rumours have also reached our ears that Jez has been Moonlighting doing Voiceovers for animatronic Christmas grottos ( I kid you not)
they're back!
Farrah will be back on the road in October and November unveiling a new member and new material! The band haven't played since May as they've been busy recording the follow up to Moustache. Keep checking the gigs page for details. They will be doing some regional shows as well as dates in London
Critically acclaimed?
Here in the UK Farrah are planning some October dates to road test new material (and new people!). Over in the US the critical praise continues.... "Summer is the perfect time for such sweet musical sunshine. Head to the beach in your convertible, wax up your handlebar moustache, and crank these Farrah tunes as loud as you can". "Farrah drives home the fact that great pop is great pop.". "Maybe more bands ought to try the drink and think approach instead of the drink and sink ending".
Update
All might seem to be quite on the Farrah front but quite the reverse is true over here in Farrah central. Whilst the American album reviews continue to trickle in the boys have been kept pretty busy over here in the UK. As progress on the next album continues at a healthy pace Jez, Andy and Mike took time out last week to help out Irish singer Carly Hennessy. The boys caught the boat over to Dublin to back her up when she supported Bryan Adams at Marley Park. See the bands own diary entry for pictures. We are also pleased to confirm that Farrah have finally found a new bass player! All will be revealed in the next few days.
Album is well received!
All is going swimmingly with Farrah's album 'Moustache' on the other side of the pond. Reviews have been fantastic and sales are showing an steep upward curve. The band are hoping to capitalise on the release by playing some shows in the U.S. They already have a tour of Spain booked in for November. At the moment they're still trying out new bass players and also working on the new album which is sounding awesome.
Looking good...
The word is starting to spread in the North America!
Check out the Junk Media Review and the Canadian Voir.
Moustache gets U.S Release today!
Americans have finally got the chance to get their grubby paws on Farrah's debut album 'Moustache'. The Album that has already been released in the U.K, received fantastic reviews in the press and remains the same track listing for the States (the only difference being the artwork). The lads are hoping that the American cousins understand the skewed lyrics and swooping harmonies that make the band stand out from the hordes of 2nd rate Pearl-Jam-by-numbers guitar bands that are swamping the American charts. At the moment the album is on heavy rotation on College Radio and pre-orders look very promising.
