Hungover
Ow, my head hurts. It feels like i'm wearing a tight trilby. Had fun last night at The Fine Young cannibals. Two of my friends were Cannibals and it was a great gig. too many pints of guinness though, hence the headache. i think i'll have to collapse in front of the telly. Ow. xx Jez

Farrah´s tour of Spain rolled into the beautiful city of Barcelona after a 7 hour drive from Madrid. The journey was only punctuated by having lunch at what seemed to be ´¨the Addams family hotel´¨ the This curiosity was only minutes from the 21st century. A hotel museum of all things bad from the 70´s. I think we were lucky to get out alive. If you are vegetarian and want to go on a diet, Spain is the ideal place. Every day Michelle and myself have been regarded with deep suspicion by everyone in the catering industry. Yesterday´s highlight was a lump of cheese! Talking of cheese, last night´s gig was in a great little club in the corner of one of Barcelona´s beautiful squares. The audience consisted of power pop nerds who were very attentive- if not rapturous! They soon started cheering when we left the stage...... Mike and myself decided to find a really cool club to have a drink, and failed miserably. We returned to our hotel defeated. The Hotel is quite strange. It is run by a formidable woman and her miniscule poodle. I was rudely awoken this morning by the sounds of this rat sheep attacking a squeaky toy with some vigour right outside our door. It sounded like Sooty was complaining about his room. Today we have a day off...yippee! Although we have a 9 hour drive to Bilbao. Until tomorrow.. All the best and buenos dias Jez x
Big Dick!
Hola! Farrah played the Moby Dick Club in Madrid last night to a brilliant crowd. The band played undoubtedly the best gig of the tour in front of Madrid´s movers and shakers. Highlights of the set included a prog rock version of Harold Bishop and an acoustic rendition of ´Different for girls´´. The band had spent the day doing a couple of Radio interviews for Spanish national radio. Pablo (our Spanish label boss) did his best to translate our answers and the DJs played tracks from Moustache with extra wax which has received rave reviews in the Spanish press. You´ll all be pleased to know that the weather is as cold here as it is in London Goodbye for now Jez x
Madrid
Long drive today so quite an early start. Took my dad for lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea. Good paella. Santi (our driver, tour manager, translater, merchandiser and general saviour) puts his foot down and we arrive in Madrid in time to go to the Hotel which is in the heart of the red light district! The Moby Dick club is a really famous club in Spàin and we play a selection of songs from Moustache and a few new ones to a friendly crowd. After the gig we all go out fro Drinks at the ´tupperware club´and get completely hammered with our Spanish label boss Pablo, Gas and Robert Redford. Crawl into bed at 4am. Two Radio interviews tomorrow......
tiny club rocks!
Castellon is one of the richest and ugliest clubs in Spain. It´s also one of the few clubs that has gigs on a sunday. It´s also the size of a Rabbit hutch. Gig was great although my voice is getting tired. The punters in Spain seem to know a great deal about powerpop. I feel bad that my Spanish is limited to ´´Hola´´ and ´´Quattro Cerveca´´ . after the gig we went for tapas. Tapas for vegetarians consists mainly of Bread and olives. Good drive home listening to Lucinda Williams and other late night tunes. Perhaps I won´t have a hangover tomorrow!
Still raining
Murcia (pronounced Murthiia) is about 100 miles from where we´re staying, so we get to see the olive groves and apple trees that line our route. The club in Murcia is great with a fantastic sound. We´re on tour with a band called Gas who are a powerpop three piece from Valencia. After soundcheck we eat a three course meal with wine (10 euros!) and play a really enjoyable gig. The management kindly left us a bottle of vodca and a bottle of jim Beam which we downed on the way home. mmmm. Got to bed at 4 am. I hope Michelle is alright as she was VERY drunk....
Hola!
Farrah arrived in Spain desperate to escape the miserable London weather. Arriving in Alicante, oiled and armed with sunglasses, the heavens opened up and it has been raining ever since! Last night we played The Wah Wah club in Vallencia to a fantastic crowd. We didn't go on stage until 1AM, so the biggest challenge of the night was staying sober until that time. The Spanish crowd were brilliant and knew the lyrics to Moustache (more than me anyway). Arriving back at our luxury villa in Denia at 4am we realised that the rock and roll lifestyle does have its up-sides! Check out the diary tomorrow Buenos nochas
Jez xx
Swanky
It's nice to be treated to a big posh recording studio every now and again.
A little acoustic treat
A quick gig between recording sessions.
Time to Rock
Loud and proud at the former "Break For The Border". Michelle's debut electric gig.
Say cheese
We've been in the studio rehearsing today and we've also had some photos of the new line-up. We were hoping to convince the photographer to shoot them all in the local Cafe but she decided we should all stand in the rain instead. Oh the sacrifices we make for rock and roll. We'll be putting them up on the site soon Jez x
Busy bees
Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. That's what we've been up to. It's been great to make a big racket again. Michelle's nimble fingers have been flying around the fretboard, Andy has been keyboard programming with a nerd like intensity and Mike has been eating everything in sight. I 've been singing/whining (occasionally in tune). Can't wait to unleash the new line up at the Radius club....
Michelle's Debut Gig
The behemoth awakens
After lumbering in the bowels of the studio for the last few months, the great lumbering, many limbed beast they call Farrah opens a bleary eye. Around it lies a musical wasteland populated by strange chimp like beings 'WillYoungs' and strangely coiffured 'antandealikes' such as G..Gates and his pop Idol minions. It is a dark depressing place and Farrah is coming to save us all.
Busy week
It's been a good week on the gigging/ celeb spotting front. On monday we went to see the Jeevas (crispian from Kula Shaker's new band) at a heaving Water Rats. They rocked in a retro way and even had Chrissie Hynde toe tapping down the front. On tuesday it was the eagerly awaited Jason Falkner gig at Dingwalls. We spotted Fran from Travis looking suspiciously like Christopher Lillicrap. Shame the gig was acoustic although it was still a great night. For you youngsters, Jason Falkner was in 'Jellyfish' and also made a couple of great solo albums. xx
Moonlighting
So after an initial let down we got a last minute call-to-arms to help out Irish songstress Carly Hennessy supporting Bryan Adams in Dublin. Helped out by Zoe on piano and Jamie on bass it's safe to say we rocked the 10,000 strong crowd at Marley Park. Not only did Mr Adams himself pop over to say hello but we also we bumped into that bloke from Westlife at the side of the stage. We were lucky enough to get a privileged view from side of the stage as Bryan and Co pulled out all the hits in their 2 hour set. Weeny ace. ac x
A night at the Opera?
A day at the races. Catford Dogs.
Albert Hall
Big isn't it! Had a good time last night. The Albert hall is slightly more upmarket than the venues I'm used to playing with farrah, the audience weren't so attractive either! the gig went well. I met A Ha and i got drunk. Nothing new there. Heard that our mysterious side project isn't happening now. Webmonkey was a bit premature with the rumour mongering! Lots of love jez x
Albert Hall
I'm performing at the Albert Hall tonight playing acoustic guitar and singing backing vocals for a good friend of mine Kate Aumonier. It should be good fun as we're supporting 'Aha!' I'll tell you how it went tomorrow Lots of love Jez x
Happily ever Abba
Just got back from a wonderful and surreal wedding in darkest hampshire. My friend Robin is in Bjorn Again (he is Benny!) so the reception was full of Abba lookalikes. It was a splendid occasion, obviously I was very drunk, if the moonwalking was anything to judge by, extremely drunk! Nice to get out of London for a couple of days it was like the summer of 69....is that a clue to something else....mmmm?
Tangerine Dreamer
The problem with having loads of knobs in the studio is that you have to use *all* of them. It's the law. There has been lots of juicy rumour in the farrah camp this week. As plans for the Spanish release of "Moustache" begin to take shape, a September/October Spanish tour looks quite likely. Also, rumours of a farrah side-project joining a UK arena tour with a very very well known Canadian artist continue to spread like wild fire - and no it's not Celine Dion. But, like all things to do with farrah, we don't believe any of it until it actually happens. ac x
Recording resumed
After a brief hiatus in the recording process work has resumed on album number 2. We were back in west London luxury today to finnish off work on some of the drum tracks recorded a few weeks back. There are 3 songs recorded (yet to be mixed) with another 4 nearing completion so we're almost half way done! ac x
U.S release
All is sounding great from the other side of the pond about Moustache's imminent U.S release. Lots of college radio stations up and down the country have been spinning the CD and first reaction looks really positive. We'll let you know any more news as it comes in........ Jez x
Jez and Andy in Bournemouth
We were trapped in Bournemouth for a couple of days and were lucky enough to escape out into the daylight and actually see the sun. So this is where they come to die?
Robbed!
Sadly farrah were robbed today. My keyboards and Mike's bass and amp were stollen from Bertha (trusty road warrior). Very very very anoying indeed. Of course we have insurance but that still doesn't compensate for the loss of instruments. Mike's bass has been with farrah from the start and my blue OB12 synth was filled with farrah sounds that, stupidly, had not been backed up for quite a while. And the Hammond organ is almost irreplacable. The mood is glum in the farrah camp tonight. Oh well, shit happens. ac x
Still rehearsing?!!!
We were all at the Depot studios again today. We must have spent too much time there as Andy and Mike H have memorised the Caf's menu! To be honest there's more petty bickering about whose turn it is to make the tea than rehearsing. We're still searching for a bass player who has the talent and the looks of the sadly departed Mike ) - : In the mean time we'll be recording more tracks I'm sure you'll all be massively impressed that myself and 8 friends came second in the pub quiz last night. Obviously we celebrated by drinking an embarrassing amount. Actually we we're pretty rebellious, quiz teams were officially limited to 6 members! Oasis eat your heart out, THIS is REAL rock and roll....
I see dead people
Body Worlds is a seriously brilliant exhibition of the grotesque and the informative. I reccommend it wholeheartedly. What else did I get up to? Barbeques and frisby competitions on Hampstead Heath. Back to the grindstone today. An 8 hour rehearsal with Mike and Andy Bickering like old women! Rock and roll eh? you goota love it xx
My head hurts
Good morning campers! Went to the Forum last night to see Mr Scruff. Very good fun although I had a lddle bit much to drink. Yesterday we heard from the States that "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" was getting some Radio play in sunny California and the album gets it's U.S release in June. We were all in the Depot rehearsing yesterday which was depressing as the sun was shining outside. Today I'm venturing to the Body Worlds exhibition in Shoreditch. (This is the artist who fills human corpses with Plastic resin and takes the skin off) I'm sure this will kill or cure my hangover... and this evening I hear you ask? Well I'm going to the London Eye and then going to the grand re-opening of 'The Pineapple' Kentish Town's premiere hostelry which has been saved from the developers HURRAH!.
Farrah rub shoulders with the stars...and Bryan Ferry
farrah were rehearsing today at a popular North London studios and were constantly interrupted by the noise coming through the walls from Oasis' rehearsal room. Rumour has it that there was a great deal of falling out between the brothers as Liam complained that Noel had 'more air' on his side of the room! I kid you not. Also in were Pulp, Starsailer (yawn), Bryan Ferry (more Avon lady fantasy than Avalon)....More news later in the week
Sunday bloody Sunday
Jez awakes to face another hangover surrounded by the detritus of Saturday night. Empty whisky bottles, tin foil and a midget in tight underpants called Steve. 6 Croissants and 8 cups of coffee later his D.T's disapear and he contemplates the day. What do rock stars do when they're not gigging? Sit in front of the computer and try and make themselves seem more exciting. That's what.
Jez gets 'very' drunk
What do you get if you cross 'The Kashmir Club' 6 pints of guinness and Farrah's lead singer? Bad acoustic music and a pounding head ache that's what! The kashmir is a great club that showcases new acoustic acts. Unfortunately on fridays it's 'try out night' where various singers try the audiences patience with their self obsessed monotonal drivel. Then again it's free to get in so it's bad form to heckle!
Jez goes to York
Had a great weekend in my beautiful hometown of York. I recommend the Golden Ball pub and the buzz bar which serves good value Japanese fayre. Thanks to Mal for plying us all with beer and forgoiving me many broken glasses. Ahhh Blesss
Mike's Last Gig!
The big lad's last show. Ever. A tremendous gig and an emotional night for all. Where do you start? An and of an era, a zeitgeist moment. What was the highlight? It had to be Mike's rendition of 'New England' and the great crowd. Then again, the Vodka, red wine, beer and curry seemed a fitting way to celebrate the big man's entry into the Farrah retirement home. He ended like he started, mumbling 'arsehole' into a chicken Balti then falling asleep in his Nan
More photo's of this night will be added as soon as we find Mike's camera.
