Hi everyone, Jez here. I hope all is great out there in Farrah land. Here is the latest news.

The reviews of our new record (out this Monday…..) have been overwhelmingly positive (phew!) but they always throw up some interesting comparisons. The roll-call of similar bands to us this time around focus mostly on Paul McCartney and Squeeze. As we’re huge Beatles fans, to be compared with the most gifted of melody writers ever is a big compliment, and as for Squeeze - well we’ve always been very fond of Difford’s wry lyrics, Tilbrook’s voice and startling chord changes. The strangest thing a review said was that I ‘farted hits’. This is by far the most original compliment I’ve ever been paid.

For all the bands the reviewers compare us to there are many more that have shaped the sound and style of the record. For anyone out there who likes Farrah, you should really check out Fountains Of Wayne and while you’re there, have a listen to Mike Viola, Tom Petty, Jellyfish, Paul Simon, Brendan Benson, Joe Jackson, Steve Miller, Queen, XTC, ELO, and Supertramp, as they all had a hand in shaping the band’s sound. They certainly influence the style of songs I write, as do less obvious influences like John Prine and Josh Rouse. I’m sure the rest of the band have their own influences to add to this mix but I’ll let them blog these themselves!

So with the album release imminent we’ve finally finished the video for Swings And Roundabouts. It was really fun to make, made even more so by spotting our many friends from around the world appearing in cameos. What do you think of my moustache by the way? Don’t worry, it’s not going to be a permanent feature.
