Well, i'm glad you asked! The first job for a band with lots of songs is to decide which ones to play on the tour. We decide this by seeing which ones sound a bit tired, (bin them or rework them!) a bit rusty (rehearse and rehearse them) and great (they go in!). The next stage is to work out what order to play them in. There is no great secret here. The traditional method is

Start with a bang! Play a few exciting songs in a row Give the audience a break with some slow/weird songs Build the set to an enormous climax of joy Possibly go back on and play a couple at the end. This is the method which often works. We have tried other methods as well. The order we play songs is also dependent on dull technical things such as if we have Capos on our guitars and if Andrew is playing guitar or keyboards (or both!) Once we get the set in the right order we rehearse it until we have all our dance moves worked out and the costume changes (we're like a Primark Lady Gaga) and then we might try a few spare songs as well so we're not just playing the same songs every night. So what's the hardest thing about rehearsing? For me as the singer, it's remembering the lyrics (worryingly, Michelle seems to know them better than me) and keeping the energy up. It's also about playing the old songs with as much passion as the new ones. We're always more excited to be playing songs from the new record! I think Andrew has the hardest job in rehearsal because he has to remember all his synth, guitar, vocals and percussion parts! We're really lucky to have our own studio to rehearse in so we don't really have a lot of excuses to sound crap. We are all singing too, so it's sometimes important to check we're all singing the right harmonies. So how it sounding? Pretty great actually! Dana and Michelle are rocking and i think all the running i've done this year is helping me sing for an hour without getting knackered. So why are you pretending to ask these questions? we know it's you I don't know really, i just thought it was an interesting blog technique Did you? i'm not sure if it works. Mmmm Jez x

Hey all, went to see Brendan Benson last night and he was fantastic! For those who don't know who he is, you should really check him out on Spotify.
He played loads of the best of his songs (he has a lot to choose from) and ended with a great cover of 'Listen To Her Heart' by Tom Petty.
